The international conference "Form Follows Learning" on 9 - 11 September 2015, in Athens, Greece brought together experts on effective learning environments for primary and secondary schools.

The conference was organised by Buildings Infrastructure SA [BI] of Greece in partnership with the OECD Centre for Effective Learning Environments [CELE]; it leveraged the OECD’s knowledge and expertise to further assist Greece develop efficient and effective learning environments.

The famous Louis Sullivan axiom, commonly abbreviated to “Form Follows Function”, underpinned the nature of the conference, in trying to explore how the ‘form’ of effective physical learning environments should ‘follow’ the needs of ‘learning’ and teaching, how their Form should Follow... Learning.

The aim of FFL was to contemplate on how professionals worldwide create effective learning environments that support education of primary and secondary level, and how OECD members could benefit from the best practices.

The international conference “Better Value for Schools: Making Public-Private Partnerships Work for Educational Infrastructure” was hosted by the School Buildings Organisation, in Athens, on 30-31 May 2011.

The aim of the conference was to provide policy-makers at national and sub-national level with insights and information on developing and managing successful PPP projects. The conference explored the key issues behind successful PPPs drawing on the expertise from different countries, the European Investment Bank and other institutions, under the following five themes:
_Overview of the global environment in PPPs
_Project identification and due diligence
_Procurement: Bridging the gap between planning and implementing
_Moving towards contract management
_Summarising key benefits and key risks of PPPs in education
